HARRISBURG - Environmental Protection Acting Secretary John Hanger told a state House panel today that the department is working to maximize the opportunities citizens, communities and companies can realize through the development of the natural gas contained in the Marcellus Shale formation, while also protecting Pennsylvania’s natural resources.

Weather permitting; the Mosquito Control Section is planning the following insecticide application during daylight hours on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.

Application of Trumpet EC (Naled) with an airplane to control adult mosquitoes in the following areas:

In and near Milford.

For the purpose of flight coordination with Dover Air Force Base, application within the Base’s Class Delta surface area could be made in spray block numbers: 102, 103, 110, 111.

For the purpose of beekeeper notification, spraying will take place in spray block numbers: 102, 103, 110, 111.

All insecticides to be used are registered with the USEPA for mosquito control and will be applied according to USEPA approved label instructions. The USEPA has determined that the insecticides to be used do not pose unreasonable risks to human health, wildlife or the environment.

In Milford and surrounding areas.
