With funds from the federal stimulus package, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is planning the cleanup of a petroleum-contaminated site at 210 South Maple St. in Yamhill, Oregon. The property previously housed a retail gas station known as Yamhill Station. DEQ will use about $280,000 in federal stimulus funds this winter to remove petroleum-contaminated soil from the property, and to determine the extent of petroleum impacts to neighboring properties.

Because the current recession has forced the Oregon Legislature to make deep cuts in state agency budgets, most state offices, including all Department of Environmental Quality offices and vehicle inspection stations, will be closed on Friday, Nov. 27. DEQ offices and inspection stations also will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
