The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued $46,800 in penalties to the operator of the Umatilla Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in Hermiston. The penalties to Washington Demilitarization Company, which operates the facility with the U.S. Army, stem from violations of conditions spelled out in the facility’s hazardous waste storage and treatment permit.
