Coal Production for Week Ended: May 10, 2008
SUMMARY: As estimated by the Energy Information Administration from data on railroad car loadings, U.S. coal production totaled approximately 22.8 million short tons (mmst) during the week ended May 10, 2008. This production estimate is about the same as last week’s estimate, and 8 percent higher than the estimate reported for the comparable week in 2007. Production east of the Mississippi River totaled 10.1 mmst and production west of the Mississippi River totaled 12.7 mmst.
