The following Mosquito Spraying Announcement has been issued by the Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife Mosquito Control Section for Kent and Sussex Counties.
Mosquito Spraying Announcement
It is effective from 06/09/08 09:00 am until 06/10/08 11:00 pm
Weather permitting; the Mosquito Control Section is planning the following insecticide application during daylight hours from Monday, June 9, 2008 through Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
Application of Altosid 20% (Methoprene) will take place with an airplane to control mosquito larvae in the following areas:
Select marshes near Kitts Hummock, Big Stone Beach and Slaughter Beach.
For the purpose of flight coordination with Dover Air Force Base, applications within the Base’s Class Delta surface area could be made in spray block number: 94.
All insecticides to be used are registered with the USEPA for mosquito control and will be applied according to USEPA approved label instructions. The USEPA has determined that the insecticides to be used do not pose unreasonable risks to human health, wildlife or the environment.
