DEQ Director to Speak at Public Forum on Climate Change in Southfield
Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester will participate in a public meeting on Tuesday, June 10, in Southfield to discuss the issue of Climate Change and Michigan’s role in addressing it. The forum will take place from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Southfield Public Library.
“I look forward to continuing these discussions that will help guide Michigan’s policymakers in addressing the global problem of climate change,” said DEQ Director Chester. “Michigan is in a unique position to make the kind of changes necessary to protect our environment while also fostering the growth of alternative energies that will grow our economy.”
The forum is being hosted by State Representative Rebekah Warren as part of the House Great Lakes and Environment Committee she chairs. Director Chester will be joined by Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence and will hear from a panel of climate change experts including Dr. David Skole and Dr. Jeff Andreson, both from Michigan State University, who will share their knowledge of the issue and answer questions from the audience.
