On September 5, 2018, the commission approved for proposal the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan SIP Revision for the One-Hour and 1997 Eight-Hour Ozone NAAQS (Non-Rule Project No. 2018-026-SIP-NR). The SIP revision would include a request that the United States Environmental Protection Agency redesignate the HGB area to attainment for the one-hour and 1997 eight-hour ozone NAAQS and provide a maintenance plan that will ensure the area remains in attainment of the NAAQS through 2032.
The public comment period will open on September 7, 2018 and close on October 8, 2018. A public hearing will be held on October 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Texas Department of Transportation, 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston.
